About Me and Oscar
Hello! I’m Chris, and this is Oscar. Oscar likes to travel in his favorite 'Wonder Wiener' superhero suit because he thinks every small town deserves a hero. I think the old Oscar would have gotten a kick out of this guy's "Wonder Wiener suit - he always was a hero to me. For 17 wonderful years, the real Oscar—a feisty, loyal dachshund—was my constant companion. He saw me through the highs and lows, always ready for the next adventure. When he passed away, he left a hole that no other dog could quite fill. A few years ago, I found this little guy. He doesn't bark, and he's much easier to pack in a suitcase, but he carries the spirit of my old friend everywhere we go. I’m 75 now, and I’ve decided that life is too short to stay in one place. My goal with this blog is to explore the hidden gems of the American South and beyond—the small towns with the best local festivals, the quietest golf courses, and the stories that don't make the evening news.
